Here at Kenmore West, there is a vast variety of extra-curricular activities for students to get involved with after school. These activities are oriented to engage students in after school activities where friendships and learning take place.

Students should listen carefully to morning announcements to find out about dates and times for club meetings. If you miss morning announcements, they are posted on the website, printed next to the elevator, and play on the scrolling screens in the cafeterias.

Students who are failing two or more classes will be placed on the Ineligible List, which will bar them from participating in extra-curricular activities or attending sporting events or dances. They will remain on the list until the next report card or 5-week report shows that they are no longer failing two courses.

Both Your Hands / Interact Club Advised by Mr. Weber

From a Nigerian proverb that tells us to "hold a true friend with both your hands," Both Your Hands is a new club at Kenmore West. It is a nonprofit organization designed to connect caring communities with poor villages to create self-sufficiency and pride in achievement. Our current effort is the funding of a 12-room secondary school that is now being built in Ngando, a small village in Kenya. The school is scheduled to open in late January of 2006. Though building a school is encouraging, it is only a start. The school has no books, desks, supplies, or technology at all. This year, the goal of Both Your Hands Club is to connect with the students, teachers, and parents of Ngando and help them change their world. In essence, we've adopted this village in an effort to help them build an infrastructure so they can eventually become self-sufficient. See their website.

Computer Club Advised by Mrs. Brania, meets in rm. 319

The purpose is to provide a club for students interested in computer technology. There will be meetings and activities through which students can improve their computer skills and knowledge. Computer Club will give the students an opportunity to utilize some of the districts high-tech programs such as: Adobe InDesign, Macromedia Flash, Windows Media Player, PhotoDraw V2, Macromedia DreamWeaver, and many more!! Students will be given a chance to create posters/flyers and other materials for the school as requested by other clubs, advisors, and faculty. Computer Club is a great place to make new friends and to meet other students who share similar interests.
