School libraries are much more than books. They are a learning hub with a full range of print and electronic resources that support student achievement and address a variety of learning styles. The library media specialist, working collaboratively with all teachers, helps students develop a love of reading, become skilled users of ideas and information and explore the world through print and electronic resources.
The role of the library media specialist is diverse. As a teacher, an instructional partner, an informational specialist plays an essential role in the learning community by ensuring that students and staff are efficient and effective users of ideas and information. They collaborate with teachers, administrators and others to prepare students for future success as life long learners.
